Blueberry Ripening Chart
May 6th 2026
Blueberries don’t ripen all at once—and they don’t reach peak sweetness the moment they turn blue. Ripening is a 30–60 day process, and understanding it helps you pick berries at their absolute best.
How Blueberries Ripen
Berries move through three stages: Green → Pink/White → Blue. But here’s the trick: A blueberry needs 3–7 extra days on the bush after turning blue to reach full sweetness.
When BerryKing Varieties Ripen
Early Season (Early–Mid June): O’Neal, Misty
Mid Season (Late June–July): Legacy
Rabbiteye Season (Late June–August): Brightwell, Tifblue, Powderblue, Ochlockonee, Krewer, Vernon, Robeson, New Hanover, Onslow
This mix gives you a continuous harvest from June through August.
